This position is for a multi-skilled technician with a current State Board of Electricity Journeyman or Master license providing focused competency maintenance support. This role requires a highly developed troubleshooting electrical technician who follows and enforces the National Electrical Code (NFPA 79). Mentoring apprentice (unlicensed) electricians is a key requirement. The technician must be trained on all electrical hazards and act as an advocate for our electrical safety programs. Continuous job-related training and a current electrical license are required for this position.

Requirements

  • Current State Board of Electricity Journeyman or Master license.
  • Continuous job-related training and current electrical license.
  • Understand the hazards of and working on electrical components.
  • Understand, troubleshoot and problem solve issues of basic complexity in advanced electrical/mechanical systems (PLC, Drives, Servo, HMI, CNC, etc.).
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, reasoning and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Competent at electrical building wiring installed to NFPA 70 electrical code.
  • 2-yr technical degree or equivalent past work experience.
  • Excellent communication, time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and self-direct activities.
  • Ability to manage vital maintenance functions to maximize corporate assets.

Responsibilities

  • Providing focused competency maintenance support.
  • Following and enforcing the National Electrical Code (NFPA 79).
  • Mentoring apprentice (unlicensed) electricians.
  • Advocating for electrical safety programs.
  • Understand, troubleshoot and problem solve issues of intermediate complexity in advanced electrical/mechanical systems (PLC, Drives, Servo, HMI, CNC, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot internal networks and MES equipment integration.
  • Use the National Electrical Code (NFPA 79) to enforce code that applies to electrical installations.
  • Diagnose PLC and HMI programs. (Load, modify, create).
  • Understand switch functions and trip curves of low voltage circuit breakers.
  • Understand the principles of circuit interruption, components of a switchgear assembly, and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect and clean components in motor controllers MCC’s.
  • Competent at switching functions, components and operating principles of high voltage (13.8 KVA) switchgear.
  • Test and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Directs and provides leadership/mentoring/coaching of other technicians including electrical code compliant applications installed by an electrical apprentice.
