We have an exciting opportunity for an Electro-Mechanical Technician B to join our dynamic team in El Segundo, California . This position's internal job code is Electro-Mechanical Technician B. Our team is currently hiring for labor grade 15. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Shift: This position is primarily 1st shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives. Candidates must be able to work any shift assigned. Union: This is an hourly union-represented position governed by the Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union (CMM&IC Local 721). New hires and employees transferring from non-union roles may be required to attend or complete training within their 90-day probationary period. Continued employment is contingent on successfully completing the probationary period. Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
  • More than 1 year of experience following written and verbal work instructions
  • Ability to use steady hand-eye coordination to work with small parts
  • Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis
  • Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods of time with only short breaks
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • More than 1 year of experience building a variety of component-level space products (e.g. avionics boxes, batteries, mechanisms, optics, printed circuit board assemblies, solar arrays, etc.)
  • More than 1 year of experience in Electro-Mechanical assembly on high reliability products
  • More than 1 year of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications
  • More than 1 year of experience working in a Clean Room environment
  • More than 1 year of experience in electronics and electro-mechanical and PCB assemblies
  • More than 1 year of experience mixing epoxy materials
  • More than 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • More than 1 year of experience using a Microscope to inspect parts
  • More than 1 year of experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems
  • More than 1 year of experience in J-STD-001 Soldering
  • More than 1 year of experience using calipers, a force gauge and/or tweezers
  • More than 1 year of experience using structures hand tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly of PCB assemblies into product chassis
  • Assemble Electro‐Mechanical assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, and standard operating procedures
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail
  • Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, micrometers and calipers
  • Perform visual inspection of Electro‐Mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly and test procedures
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications
  • Document non‐conformances and associated rework/repair
  • Soldering and reworking of through‐hole and SMT components
  • Support conformal coat, masking, epoxy application and coating
  • Other duties as assigned
