Requirements

  • Two year Associate degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Must be capable of all the preceding pay step requirements.
  • Standing long periods, sitting, manual dexterity, stooping, bending.
  • Passing a pre-employment physical including a baseline test of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Passing a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Design minor electrical circuits and test and troubleshoot electrical, PLC and electronic circuits used for the control of machines and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
  • Install electrical and electronic controls on machines and equipment by reading and interpreting schematics or blueprints.
  • Have knowledge of the electrical power, steam, water, and gas distribution systems.
  • Perform basic mechanical repairs.
  • Perform the work of the lower class identifications.
  • Direct the work of others in the lower classifications.
  • Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as brushes and armatures.
  • Install and monitor performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
  • Interpret blueprints; work from sketches or verbal instructions.
  • Do layouts, assemble, install, test, repair, and adjust electrical fixtures, apparatus, equipment, wiring, and new services to include panels, breakers, and conduit.
  • Mount motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and complete circuits according to diagram specifications.
  • Repair, install, replace and test electrical circuits and equipment using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
  • Perform a variety of work as directed by the coordinator.
