About The Position

Come join us! Cirris Inc, a leading manufacturer of electrical cable and harness test equipment, has an immediate opening for a Electro-Mechanical Engineer. The Electro‑Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the engineering, design, and technical support of custom electro‑mechanical projects including tooling, fixturing, test interfaces, and specialized assemblies. This role serves as a key technical authority within the Custom Solutions group, providing expertise in mechanical design (CAD), electronics comprehension, product documentation, and cross‑functional engineering collaboration. The engineer ensures that all custom solutions meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and customer‑specific requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent demonstrated experience).
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in mechanical design, electro‑mechanical systems, tooling/fixturing, or product development.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or production teams preferred.
  • CAD proficiency required; electrical literacy strongly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with mechanical CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of electronics: ability to read schematics, identify components, and comprehend PCB layout basics.
  • Strong technical communication skills—written, verbal, and graphical.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer technical documents.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, engineering best practices, and documentation standards.
  • Familiarity with prototyping tools, machine shop processes, wiring tools, and test equipment preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, tooling, and fixturing using CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent).
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, models, and bill‑of‑materials (BOMs) for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Develop test interfaces, custom adapters, and electro‑mechanical assemblies for cable/harness testing applications.
  • Interpret and incorporate customer specifications, engineering requirements, and application constraints into final designs.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and PCB layouts at a basic to intermediate level.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical designs with circuits, connectors, test points, and cable harnesses.
  • Support the layout of wiring, routing paths, and electrical‑mechanical interfaces within assemblies.
  • Create and document control panels, circuit boards, and cables.
  • Provide technical support to production teams during fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting of custom designs.
  • Work directly with the Custom Project Manager to ensure engineering deliverables meet schedules and customer expectations.
  • Revise and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and project files throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Evaluate manufacturability and propose design improvements for cost, quality, and reliability.
  • Oversee initial builds or prototypes to verify design intent and ensure functionality.
  • Support the creation of test procedures, programs, and acceptance criteria for electro‑mechanical assemblies.
  • Collaborate with QC and production technicians during functional testing (electrical and mechanical).
  • Recommend enhancements to tools, processes, materials, or engineering workflows.
  • Work closely with production technicians, assemblers, and other engineers to solve technical issues.
  • Participate in training to maintain and expand knowledge of CAD, electronics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain CAD libraries, templates, and standards for the Custom Solutions engineering group.
  • Assist with supplier technical communication for materials, machining, or fabricated components.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
