Requirements

  • Participate in and meet all plant safety requirements
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment such as dial indicators, micrometers, height gages, radius gages, calipers, etc. to .0001 of an inch
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of assembly and detail engineering drawings including geometric tolerancing
  • Must pass all Sonoco Category 2 Electrical requirements and certification
  • Experience with 440/480v electrical components
  • Identify, validate, initiate, and drive new improvement opportunities and promote the passion for excellence and delivering on commitments values
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC Hardware/Software, Variable speed drivers, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
  • Experience with photo eyes, sensors, and limit switches
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to react in an efficient timely manner.
  • Willing to work any shift (nights and weekends), holidays and overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of maintenance experience in a closure manufacturing plant and/or a metal stamping plant using progressive die technology
  • Two Year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on various production and utility equipment and apply RCA techniques to improve and eliminate future problems
  • Performs maintenance tasks in accordance with work orders and documented service level procedures and workmanship standards
  • Documents all maintenance tasks in an accurate and timely manner using the computerized maintenance management systems (CWORKS)
  • Performs equipment repairs and modifications in a competent, complete manner in accordance with documented procedures and standards
  • Troubleshoots defective equipment to isolate causes and make repairs
  • Promotes a culture of safety awareness and following company policies / procedures on HSE
  • Troubleshooting / maintaining / repairing electro-mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic machine operations, electric motors, conveyors, air compressors, air conditioning units, vision systems, Vorne system, etc.
  • Fabricating repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Execute routine preventative maintenance, daily checklist and predictive maintenance, equipment verification checks
  • Actively participate in RCA’s (5 whys) for Electro- Mechanical issues
  • Participate in all required SPS activities for the Plant
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical/electrical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions of all plant equipment
