Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in an engineering field, with a graduate degree highly preferred.
  • 0-2 years of practical experience in engineering roles.
  • Understanding of chemistry, electro-chemistry, and laboratory work essential for battery research.
  • Experience presenting engineering topics and moderating technical discussions.
  • Demonstrated ability in solving complex engineering problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills essential for effective collaboration.
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong drive to achieve research and development goals.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and make informed recommendations and decisions.
  • Ability to form strong partnerships with university teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mechanical engineering activities to design competitive battery products, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 2-5 students in battery technology research, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Develop mechanical system structures from architectural guidelines, incorporating risk analysis measures.
  • Break down structures into subsystems and components, creating detailed product specifications and assessing reuse potential.
  • Design and select alternative system structures, optimizing for performance, cost, and feasibility.
  • Ensure traceability and configuration management of mechanical architecture, managing material designation and versioning.
  • Drive innovative research initiatives, supporting student involvement in academic publications and conference presentations.
  • Develop and manage project plans for research and development, collaborating with faculty and industry partners while communicating progress effectively.
