This position requires completion of a formal apprentice program or an equivalent number of years of education and/or experience. Applicants must be able to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Troubleshoot/Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Must be experienced working with low, medium and high voltages. Troubleshooting and testing of 440v and 2300v breakers and motor starter circuits. Must be able to read and work from schematics and prints. Candidate must have working knowledge of the National Electrical Code; Must have strong understanding of safe electrical practices. Must be able to climb ladders and work from elevated equipment. Applicant must be able to properly install conduit and wire. Experience with PLC’s preferred. All new Journeyman Electricians must be able to qualify for a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
