About The Position

Under general supervision, perform skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment; and perform related work as required.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Successful completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
Possession of a valid State of Nevada Journeyman Electrician Certificate.
Possession of a valid Nevada Driver’s License.
Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the electrical trade.
Considerable knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the electrical trade.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Ability to install and repair electrical systems and equipment.
Ability to use a variety of electrical testing equipment.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to work safely.
Ability to perform heavy physical labor.

Responsibilities

Install and repair electrical systems and equipment, including transformers, motors, control systems, fire alarm systems, and related equipment.
Maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment in schools and other District facilities.
Inspect electrical systems and equipment to identify and correct problems.
Use a variety of electrical testing equipment to diagnose and repair electrical problems.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Install and repair conduit, wiring, and other electrical components.
Maintain accurate records of work performed.
Respond to emergency calls for electrical repairs.
Work with other tradespeople to complete projects.
Assist in the training of other electricians.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Perform related work as required.
