About The Position

U.S. Pipe is seeking a 2nd shift Electrician to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting, repairing, installing, and wiring all electrical apparatus, devices, and circuits, of any voltage in the plant or assigned area.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of electrical work experience or successful completion of an electronics curriculum from an accredited program.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and drawings.
  • Must have experience trouble shooting and repairing electrical problems.
  • Must be able to wire motor control circuits and push-button circuits.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer experience is desired, previous PLC experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Receives wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done.
  • Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment to determine material or replacement needs and to select a logical approach to "trouble shooting" and repair problems.
  • Plans details of working procedure to affect the most logical approach to the job.
  • Considers all safety precautions and the proper isolation of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations.
  • Determines necessary tools and equipment.
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment.
  • Locates source of trouble of any type of electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation.
  • Dismantles, inspects, repairs, adjusts, or replaces faulty parts, wiring on motors, generators, motors, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, etc.
  • Reassembles, tests, and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation. Performs work on "hot" lines as required.
  • Replaces coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, etc.
  • Adjusts contactors, relays, bus rigging, etc.
  • Reconnects terminal leads, panels boards and distribution feeders.
  • In emergencies, shunts out defective coils in order to get equipment back in operation.
  • Changes DC motor characteristics by shunting DC coils, etc.
  • Installs conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures, and wires and connects all types of electrical equipment as required for new installations or replacement of facilities.
  • Makes all required splices and connector joints. Adjusts all new equipment for proper operating characteristics.
  • Performs all work in a safe and efficient manner and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Clean up all work areas.
  • Performs any other duty supervisor assigns.
