About The Position

To help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to work in a constructive mode.
  • Two years’ experience in electrical maintenance work.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical maintenance and construction.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, control drawings, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to pass a district written and physical test.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of electric elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
  • Instructs custodians and maintenance workers on proper methods of procedure and proper use of tools in electrical repair work.
  • Orders and accounts for material and labor relative to assignments, accurately.
  • Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State, local and Board of Education guidelines.
  • Performs general electrical maintenance and some new installations according to code work inside and outside the physical plant.
  • Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintains the inventory of district-owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials and supplies.
  • Completes all assigned routine and planned maintenance within a reasonable time period.
  • Communicates with Foreman on a scheduled basis to discuss current and anticipated work load.
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle to perform certain job duties to any location within the District.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
