Performs highly skilled electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work for County facilities and infrastructure. The position ensures reliable electrical service through inspection, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. Work includes oversight of contractor work performed under a master electrician’s license and occasional training of other personnel. The position operates primarily in field environments and is performed under general supervision. Essential Job Functions Performs inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electrical systems, circuits, and components in County facilities. Conducts routine inspections to identify hazards, deficiencies, and code violations. Installs conduit, pulls wire, programs controllers, develops schematics and ladder diagrams, and tests equipment for proper operation. Maintains machinery and electrical equipment and performs voltage, continuity, and resistance testing. Reads and interprets blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and applicable electrical and building codes. Maintains maintenance schedules and documentation of work performed. Performs preventative maintenance to reduce equipment wear and operational failures. Maintains inventory of supplies, tools, and assigned vehicles. Operates specialized equipment including bucket trucks, lifts, meters, and underground cable locators. Participates in a rotating on-call schedule to respond to emergency electrical issues. Knowledge of – Commercial and industrial electrical systems, components, and installation methods. Electrical materials, tools, equipment, and applicable local, state, and national electrical codes. Electrical testing procedures, troubleshooting practices, and diagnostic techniques. Ability to -- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately. Install, maintain, test, and repair electrical systems safely and effectively. Work at heights, in confined spaces, and under varying environmental conditions. Maintain accurate records, reports, and related documentation. Communicate effectively with supervisors, contractors, County staff, and others encountered in the course of work. Perform physically demanding skilled trade work in a safe and efficient manner.
