The primary purpose of the position is to perform electrician duties for healthcare facilities within VASNHCS. The incumbent will be required to assist other trades persons and/or any other work as assigned by the supervisor to meet the mission of Facility Management Service (FMS). This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor within the Maintenance section of FMS. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Incumbent installs, modifies, repairs, maintains, trouble shoots, test and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls and all equipment as assigned by the Electrical-Maintenance Supervisor. Read system diagrams and schematics, interpret basic electronic terms and symbols, and apply a variety of electrical formulas, tables, charts, and color codes in order to mount, ground, and install wiring and equipment for electrical/electronic systems. Performs work from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, electrical maintenance, and repair manuals to plan and layout the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load continuity and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, and controls. He/she determine and place distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections, and installs wiring couplings, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers, and other electrical devices. Conduct research and write work orders for approval by supervisor and assist in maintain stock levels for timely repairs. He/she is required to keep all stock and shop areas neat, clean, and orderly. Maintaining tools in a safe, clean working order and protected from theft. Provide skilled expertise in performing preventive maintenance routinely on industrial and commercial type electrical systems including supporting components of those system. This also includes medical grade refrigerators, freezers units and other equipment with condensers. Repairs, modifies, maintains, troubleshoots, services, and performs preventive and predictive maintenance of electrical systems, and related equipment in specific and/or critical areas. Utilizing the CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) to; perform testing and Preventative Maintenance (PM) to critical assets to keep the Hospital in compliance with Federal, State and Local Accreditation Inspecting Agencies and complete and close out work orders and documentation in a timely manner.
