About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting the Electrical Supervisor in the installation of wiring and electrical fixtures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess and maintain a current State of Connecticut Occupational License E-2 or above
  • Must be able to pass both verbal and technical proficiency test and demonstrate skills necessary to perform specific job functions
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety requirements of the trade
  • Must be able to read and work from blueprints
  • Possesses a working knowledge of the electrical trade including the concepts of voltage, current and power and the properties and uses of electrical components
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety requirements of the trade
  • Proficient in the operation and sequencing of all electrical systems, components and switching
  • OSHA Lockout/Tag out procedures
  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure training
  • Respirator training and fit tested
  • Man lift training, (scissor and boom lift)
  • Forklift training
  • Confined space training
  • Fall protection
  • Must be able to work in a smoking environment as well as various weather conditions including extreme hot and cold
  • Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and climb a ladder
  • Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance and installation of electrical equipment and all associated systems and devices
  • Repairs or replaces electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures using hand and power tools
  • Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components
  • Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Responsible for all departmental logs/record keeping and labor recording pertinent to their day-to-day job duties
  • Assists other trades, as needed
