About The Position

The Electrician position involves planning the layout and wiring of electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment. The role includes installing, repairing, and modifying new or existing equipment and systems to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. The work schedule is Tuesday to Saturday from 3 PM to 11 PM.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Successful completion from an approved and recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent pursuant to attaining Journeyman status as an Electrician.

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, and technologies relative to electrical construction, installation, and repair.
  • Knowledge of city, state, and local building codes as they relate to electrical construction.
  • Skill in installing, operating, testing, dismantling, and repairing all types of electrical equipment used in building construction.
  • Skill in identifying electrical problems and repairing and maintaining various electrical systems.
  • Skill in interpreting blueprints and computing distances.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit and splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads.
  • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand-tools.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads.
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments.
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems as needed.
  • Maintains work log records and requisitions parts, materials, and equipment as needed.
