About The Position

Marathon Petroleum Company (MPC) is currently accepting applications for an experienced Electrician to work within its Marine Repair Facility (MRF) in Garyville, LA. Electricians are critical members of the MRF, and we are looking for individuals who can contribute to our inclusive work environment. Electricians must have demonstrated electrical proficiencies and maintain applicable electrical code with electronic components, alarm systems, industrial control systems, single and three phase motor systems, wiring installation, fixtures, breaker boxes, equipment in hazardous locations, electrical testing of equipment and must be able to read wiring diagrams and schematics. Electricians are required to work both indoors and outdoors, in inclement weather, and may be required to work in confined spaces. Travel from the MRF to vessels in various locations, as well as other MPC facilities, may be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card required.
• Must be able to pass a preemployment written test, hands on test, drug test, and background check.
• DOT physical required.
• Industry experience preferred.
• Experience working with Marine equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain shore side and towboat equipment such as motors, electrical control panels, intricate alarm systems, generators, transformers, heater controls, fiber optics, PLC automation systems, networking, radar systems, high-speed satellite communication systems, etc.
• Proficiently troubleshoot electrical issues and repair electrical components.
• Participate in new project work and administrative activities.
• Respond to callouts.
• Participate in safety and training activities.
