The position involves inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical circuits and electronic equipment under the guidance of an experienced electrician or supervisor. The individual will perform standardized duties and tasks using hand tools and testing instruments, isolate defects in wiring and other electrical equipment, and replace faulty components. The role requires working under direct supervision, following safety procedures, and maintaining a clean work environment. The individual will also be part of the emergency response organization and may need to travel for extended periods to support station outages. Additionally, the candidate must obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear access.

Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be physically able and willing to utilize respirators, SCBA bottles, fall protection or other equipment essential to the requirements of maintaining a Nuclear Power Plant.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of electrical work in an industrial setting and experience working with basic hand tools.
  • Electrical trade school or prior military experience.
  • Nuclear power plant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, tests, troubleshoots and repairs electrical circuits and electronic equipment under the guidance of an experienced electrician or supervisor.
  • Performs standardized duties and tasks using hand tools and testing instruments.
  • Isolates defects in wiring, switches, monitors and other electrical equipment using testing instruments.
  • Replaces faulty switches, sockets and other elements of electrical systems.
  • May dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective parts and related fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.
  • Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Respects and works safely around power plant equipment to safeguard personnel and equipment.
  • Maintains a neat, clean shop and work area to enhance the working environment.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
