About The Position

RahrBSG is looking for an Electrician Supervisor to join our team in Shakopee, MN. The Electrical Supervisor provides leadership, technical oversight, and daily direction to a team of union electricians. This role ensures all electrical work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and labor agreements, which also ensuring adherence to established budgets and the successful achievement of project timelines. The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing electrical maintenance, installation, and repair activities while collaborating with cross functional teams to support operational reliability and overall continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general eduction degree (GED) required.
  • Master Electrician License or Journeyman’s License in the state of Minnesota.
  • 8+ years of experience of industrial electrical experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical experience with CMMS tools for scheduling and tracking work orders.
  • Past experience in electrical maintenance procedures and maintenance planning.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable federal, state, and local electrical regulations.
  • Goal-driven leader that understands operational metrics, takes ownership of individual and team results, and creates accountability to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to provide feedback and direction to operational leaders and employees without direct supervision.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge with electrical and industrial equipment, PLC and process control systems, and the proven ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with others in working towards common solutions.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to coordinate across teams, union representatives, operations, maintenance, engineering, and external contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, motors, drives, MCCs, switchgear, control panels, and instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations, including NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and state licensing requirements.
  • Understanding of maintenance and reliability best practices, including preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and execute electrical maintenance work, including job planning, shutdown coordination, and resource allocation.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills in an industrial plant environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain standard work, SOPs, equipment files, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to work safely in a physically demanding, industrial environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience with grain handling, refrigeration, utilities, and waste water treatment equipment and processes preferred.
  • Past experience managing complex projects in a plant environment preferred.
  • Understanding of Vibration, Infrared, PLC’s, Ultrasonic, and Motor Circuit evaluation preferred.
  • Boiler license and/or experience would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and predictive maintenance technologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads daily operations of the electrical maintenance crew to ensure safe and efficient operational success of the campus.
  • Creates and sustains an engaging culture for both direct reports and indirect reports to grow, develop, and meet company and career goals.
  • Maintain effective communication with union leadership, management, and internal partners.
  • Managing and maintaining electrical equipment files and documents
  • Responsible for optimizing electrical spare parts through research and inventory control.
  • Prepares and manages list for electrical job packages for work.
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, and schedule electrical work orders, preventative maintenance tasks, project activities, and shutdown work on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Review blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to guide work plans.
  • Ensure electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance activities meet industry standards and organizational requirements.
  • Establish required tasks, material requisitions, tools, equipment, and labor for electrical projects.
  • Establish standard work plans and standard operating procedures, ensuring ongoing updates are completed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues and guide technicians through problem-solving.
  • Schedule and lead meetings to review the progress of electrical work with plant maintenance and operations team.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineers, and operations leaders to schedule projects, ensuring the most effective and efficient use of available resources.
  • Support budgeting processes by providing input on labor hours, materials, and equipment needs.
  • Maintain inventory of electrical tools, equipment, and parts.
  • Oversee contractor work as needed to complement internal staff projects.
  • Enforce safety protocols, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and OSHA, NFPA, and NEC compliance.
  • Adheres to FDA, State, City, and Company guidelines for food safety handling and facility sanitation.
  • Adheres to OSHA, State, City, and Company guidelines for developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Maintain required documentation for compliance, inspections, and audits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve electrical system reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the company and its operational needs.
