The position involves a comprehensive range of maintenance tasks, focusing on preventative maintenance and troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. The role requires a thorough understanding of permissibility requirements and the ability to apply proper splicing and troubleshooting techniques for underground cables. Additionally, the technician will service all face equipment to ensure it fits within the mining cycle and will be responsible for reading electrical prints for equipment. The job also includes performing chain and crawler maintenance, utilizing proper cribbing and blocking techniques, and operating all face equipment. Maintaining CO monitors and communications systems is essential, as is troubleshooting and installing leaky feeder and fiber optic cables. The technician will also conduct fire suppression testing, downshift and change major components on all equipment, fix sensors on shield electrics, and grease all appropriate components. Regular maintenance tasks include changing backflush filters and water pump filters.
