The University of Virginia Facilities Management team is seeking a skilled Electrician or Senior Electrical Assistant to join our Housing Zone, which supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost-effective, reliable maintenance to the University community. This position will be filled at either level based on the selected finalist's credentials and experience. The position will be primarily assigned to the First-Year Dormitory area, directly supporting 37 buildings and approximately 4,000 students, encompassing more than 1.5 million square feet of living space. This area serves as the foundation of the student residential experience and requires a proactive, customer-focused approach to system reliability and service delivery. Senior Electrical Assistants may work independently or alongside licensed Electricians, performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and small installations while developing skills through hands-on experience and mentorship. Electricians perform journey-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and system upgrades, ensuring all work meets code and safety standards.
