About The Position

The Electrician (Maintenance) position at Bonneville Power Administration involves maintaining and repairing electrical equipment in substations. The role includes routine inspections, modifications, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical systems.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) within 120 days after appointment.
• Must maintain a First Aid Card and CPR card within one year of appointment.
• Possess a clearance certificate and an electrical worker's permit within one year of appointment.
• Be certified on aerial lift or other equipment if assigned to use or operate.
• Subject to call for emergency work at any time.
• Must pass a pre-employment medical exam and initial drug test.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with high voltage electrical systems and equipment.
• Knowledge of safety practices related to electrical work.
• Ability to work in all-weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Installing and adjusting major electrical equipment such as power transformers and circuit breakers.
• Performing maintenance and repair of major electrical equipment in substations on a regular schedule.
• Assembling control and relay panels according to design drawings for installation in substations.
• Installing prewired relay and control panels to switchboards in substations.
• Mounting and adjusting communications equipment including antennas and emergency power supplies.
• Erecting steel structures to support electrical equipment in substations.
• Installing ground mats, conduit, duct, and trench systems.
• Taking clearances to safely work on high-voltage equipment according to established procedures.
• Performing switching to isolate equipment for repair or maintenance.
