About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 12 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to pro-vide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. The Electrician Licensed Supervisor at Little Sandy Correctional Complex supervises electricians and performs electrical work of all types; and performs other duties as re-quired.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed as a Master Electrician by the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction. https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/kar/titles/815/035/060/ Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Responsibilities

Supervises the work of electricians and trainees involved in the installation and repair of electrical systems, appliances and motors.
Inspects electrical wiring and fixtures for defects according to the electrical code.
Checks for violations of current electrical code and reports to proper authorities.
Determines proper material and equipment for use by subordinates.
Diagnoses problems with electrical systems.
Installs and repairs electrical systems, appliances and motors.
Runs conduits for telephones and electric circuits.
Installs and services public address systems.
Keeps records of electrical projects, work time records, etc.
Checks and makes minor repairs to generators.
