About The Position

The position is located at the McDavid, FL, sawmill operation and reports directly to the Electrical Supervisor. The role involves testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system. Responsibilities include inspecting electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and ensuring compliance with codes. The candidate will troubleshoot, program, and upgrade Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), read and update instrumentation loop diagrams, E & I drawings, blueprints, and schematics, and maintain power distribution systems, MCC, and switch gears. The role requires working from sketches, manuals, verbal instructions, and drawings to design, assemble, or install electrical equipment within the plant, as well as operating power lift equipment when necessary. Flexibility to work outside scheduled hours is essential for Mill Production continuity.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have 3-5 years of verifiable work experience as an Electrician in an Industrial/Manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends.
  • Employer will perform a background check, reference check, physical, and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC5.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley Panelviews and Panelview Plus.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley Communications - RS232 & Ethernet.
  • Experience with scanning and optimization systems within the Lumber Manufacturing Business.
  • Experience with process network communication systems and components - Ethernet & Fiber Optic.

Responsibilities

  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures using testing devices.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Troubleshoot, program, and upgrade Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Read, understand, and update instrumentation loop diagrams, E & I drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot and program AC variable speed drives.
  • Maintain and upgrade power distribution systems, MCC, and switch gears.
  • Work from sketches, manuals, verbal instructions, and drawings to design, assemble, or install electrical equipment.
  • Work with vendors to identify parts needed and make recommendations to the supervisor.
  • Operate power lift equipment when necessary.
  • Be willing to work outside scheduled hours as necessary for Mill Production.
