About The Position

Electrician - Journeymen (CORDOVA, IL) 3M Cordova is seeking a Journeymen Electrician for the Cordova, IL site. This position is FULL-TIME. Job Description: Summary An Electrician is responsible for safely performing various duties such as testing, installing, replacing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment. This includes planning layouts, inspecting systems for hazards, reading work orders, documenting maintenance activities, and assisting in training apprentices while monitoring the activities of other workers, including contractors.

Requirements

  • A minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial maintenance setting or Completion of Federally-Certified Journeymen (8,000 hours) formal industrial manufacturing skilled craft training program or equivalent
  • A college degree(completed and verified prior to the start) from a technical school in the mechanical field.
  • Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour schedule and be willing to be on-call
  • Applicants meeting the basic qualifications above may be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as a part of the selection process.

Responsibilities

  • Test, install, replace, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machine and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Record and document repair and machine maintenance information.
  • Assist in training maintenance apprentices
  • Monitor activities of other people working including contractors.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by operating business needs.
