About The Position

The Electrician I monitors, inspects, repairs, installs, and performs preventive maintenance functions independently and with minimal guidance for communication, control, and electrical distribution systems in Bassett Healthcare Network, while adhering to safety codes and regulations to ensure that all electrical systems are operating safely and at optimum performance levels. In this role, you will inspect and perform standard to intermediate repairs on communication and electrical distribution systems including nurse-call intercom systems, automatic gates, appliances, electric lighting fixtures, generators, automatic transfer switches, and transformers throughout Bassett Healthcare Network to ensure that all systems are safe and operational. You will adhere to established safety regulations and guidelines to ensure that repairs are carried out in an effective and safe manner. Additionally, you will monitor and perform preventive maintenance functions for control systems, electrical distribution systems, and equipment throughout Bassett Healthcare Network to minimize system failures. Your responsibilities will also include supervising and training new and entry-level electricians and utility workers as needed, assisting and communicating with mechanical maintenance crews, and responding to repair requests from Bassett Healthcare Network staff. You will install new electrical circuitry, including conduits, cables, boxes, lighting fixtures, and equipment, while ensuring compliance with safety codes and regulations. Furthermore, you will identify ways to improve work processes and customer satisfaction, making recommendations to your supervisor and implementing changes as appropriate. Maintaining knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines that impact the Electrician area is essential, as is developing effective internal controls to promote adherence to laws and accreditation requirements. This position may also require you to perform duties outside the specific functions listed, ensuring a flexible approach to the needs of the organization.
