MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Helper High School Diploma or GED Certificate 0 - 6 months experience in Electrical Field. Enrollment in the Apprenticeship Program is required in accordance with standards Valid Driver's License required (subject to motor vehicle record review) Apprentice High School Diploma or GED Certificate Vocational/ Specialized Training in Electrical Field. 1 -2 years' experience in Electrical Field. 1 -2 years' experience in Electric, Gas, Water/Wastewater operations. Enrollment in the Apprenticeship Program is required in accordance with standards Valid Driver's License required (subject to motor vehicle record review) JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES: Helper Assists in maintaining water well controls, troubleshooting, and correcting problems. Conducts all job duties in a safety conscious manner that reflects safety for others as well as self in work habits and in carrying out assignments. Performs ground level job functions as required. Maintains daily records of time worked, including filling out time sheets. Utilizes basic electric instruments. Cleans and maintains equipment. Performs minor repairs on electrical equipment machinery and to buildings and facilities, including painting, plastering, carpentry, plumbing or electrical power. Measures, cuts, threads and installs electrical conduit. Assists with troubleshooting service interruptions and electrical outages. Assists in investigating customer complaints pertaining to voltage problems, required to climb poles, etc., and takes corrective action. Operates a company vehicle and assures that company vehicle is properly cared for. Communicates with supervisor and other company personnel by two-way radio. Delivers and/or picks up materials or supplies at locations within the organization. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Apprentice Reads, interprets, and uses blueprints and schematics for troubleshooting. Troubleshoots and maintains water well controls from telemetry to the motor leads and maintains emergency generators at lift stations. Operates a company vehicle in the performance of duties. Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp or growler. Conducts all job duties in a safety conscious manner that reflects safety for others as well as self in work habits and in carrying out assignments. Utilizes basic electric instruments Is familiar with controls in district's water and wastewater plants and gas controls. Performs ground level job functions as required. Assists in investigating customer complaints pertaining to voltage problems, required to climb poles, etc., and takes corrective action. Assists with troubleshooting service interruptions and electric outages. Conducts inspections on no-NTUA work, such as meterloop installation. Installs and removes electric single phase and three phase meters and services, makes emergency repairs and energize primary lines. Investigates customer complaints concerning electrical problems. Maintains daily records of time worked, including filling out time sheets. Troubleshoots overhead and underground circuits. Work on secondary electric lines only; repairs streetlights and security lights. Install Meter Loop on a pole or house. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
