About The Position

This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Transmission Services (T), Transmission Field Services (TF), Construction & Maintenance Services (TFH). A successful candidate in the Electrician (Construction) position will install and adjust (construction) electrical equipment in Substations.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must participate in the e-Verify program.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must be suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and provide proof of a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) within 120 days after appointment.
  • Must complete a pre-employment medical exam due to physical requirements of the position.
  • Must maintain a First Aid Card and a CPR card within 1 year after appointment.
  • Must be certified on aerial lift or other equipment if assigned to use or operate.

Responsibilities

  • Installing and adjusting major electrical equipment such as power transformers and gas, oil, or air-insulated power circuit breakers.
  • Maintenance and repair of major electrical equipment in substations on a regular schedule.
  • Control and relay panel assembly, including drilling and wiring instruments, switches, lights, and relays according to design drawings.
  • Switchboard installation, adding prewired relay and control panels to switchboards in substations.
  • Installation of communications equipment, including antennas, reflectors, and emergency power supplies.
  • Erection of steel structures to support electrical equipment in substations.
  • Installation of ground mats, conduit, duct, and trench systems.
  • Taking clearances to safely work on high-voltage equipment.
  • Performing switching to isolate equipment for repair or maintenance.
