About The Position

Central Arizona Project (CAP) is a 336-mile system that supplies Colorado River water to central and southern Arizona. More than 6 million people rely on this supply. The Centralized Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting various types of industrial equipment and electrical systems. The role involves working with high voltage electrical systems, machinery, and controls to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a state certified apprenticeship training program for Industrial Electrician or Protective Relay Technician; or have an equivalent com ination of education, experience and demonstrated ability.
  • Three (3) year's experience as a Journeyman Electrician in the related field; or completion of a CAP apprenticeship program (or other apprenticeship deemed comparable to CAP apprenticeship by management).
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions to complete work assignments in a timely and safe manner.
  • Ability to use computer programs for email, time entry, materials tracking, etc.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Pre-employment functional testing is required.
  • Please note that this position has some physical requirements and pre-employment physical testing would be required upon offer.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and controls.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on electrical systems, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues with industrial equipment, such as submersible pumps, conveyors, and generators.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintains, tests, repairs and troubleshoots complex electrical and electronic systems.
  • Performs switching of high voltage equipment (certified switchman) under safe clearance procedures.
  • Operates overhead cranes and hoists to safely, economically and efficiently install and maintain equip ment owned or to be maintained by the CAP.
  • Checks, revises and updates electrical schematics, drawing and diagrams as required.
  • Maintains continuing records of all calibration tests on equipment along with files of preventive maintenance records.
  • Works under the direction of a supervisor or a work leader with mechanics or maintenance workers, to make independent decisions to complete work assignments in a timely and safe manner.
  • Proficiently uses tools and equipment common to the trade to adjust, repair, calibrate, install and test electrical equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, installation, repair, troubleshooting and testing on all electrical, electronic equipment, and circuits associated with the Headquarters site.
