About The Position

The Apprentice Electrician is responsible for assisting electricians in electrical installations, troubleshooting and maintenance within the commercial and residential electrical industry.
The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council.

Requirements

• Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Licensing: Current licensing, as required by the state of California
• Miscellaneous: Must be eighteen (18) years of age
• Must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license
• Ability to complete projects of various scopes and sizes.
• Maintain a safe job site, complying with company safety, OSHA and customer-specific safety standards.
• Knowledge of basic electrical circuits and wiring.
• Ability to read basic blueprints, schematics, and written reference material.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to speak, write and read English.

Responsibilities

• Perform work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of electrical systems for buildings, equipment and grounds
• Perform work of a skilled variety demanding a high degree of manual and technical competency
• Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using test equipment
• Repair malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses, and replacing defective wiring, cleaning and repairing motors
• Test electrical equipment, such as, motors, heaters, and controls for safety and efficiency, using standard test equipment and by observing functions
• Install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment
• Inspect circuits for specified shielding and grounding
• Requires initiative and ingenuity to analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications and electrical codes
• May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position
