General Maintenance/Electrician Apprentice

About The Position

Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical systems and fixtures in district facilities.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED from a state accredited high school or educational program
Clear and valid Texas driver’s license
Registered with the City of San Antonio as an Electrical Apprentice
Knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring and operating principles of motors
Knowledge of current electrical codes and ordinances
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Ability to use hand and power tools
Must be ready to participate in continuing education and training related to position
Meet physical requirements of position description
One year eperience in electrical field

Responsibilities

Repairs/replaces plugs, switches, ballast, exhaust motors, etc.
Follow orders as instructed by Journeyman Electricians
Changes light fixtures.
Changes security lights.
Adjust time clocks for daylight saving time changes
Observes and work closely with Journeyman Electricians
Work with other team members in the cleanliness and upkeep of facilities and grounds
Must be able to drive and maintain an acceptable driving record due to insurance requirements regarding use of district vehicles.
Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Foreman or designee.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
