The Travel Crew position at Duke Energy involves maintaining and constructing substation equipment while traveling extensively. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to obtain a Florida class A CDL within 6 months of start date
  • Successful completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades Test (CAST)
  • Weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Mathematical skills sufficient to work basic electrical functions.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Experience with switching and tagging requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and/or construct all structures and substation equipment as directed.
  • Install and/or maintain substation equipment using electrical prints and manufacturer's instruction books.
  • Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions of all substation equipment during installation and maintenance.
  • Instruct subordinate personnel in company procedures and equipment operations.
  • Determine procedures and work schedules for installations.
  • Switch and take clearances of all electrical equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks.
