About The Position

The Electrician and Maintenance Mechanic at Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority is responsible for maintaining and repairing various electrical systems and components within the facility. This role involves troubleshooting, installation, and repair of electrical circuits, as well as performing maintenance tasks in carpentry, plumbing, and environmental control. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager and is expected to ensure the safety and functionality of all electrical and mechanical systems in the hospital.

Requirements

  • Licensed Electrician or a minimum of four years' experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
  • Knowledge in plumbing, carpentry, or general contracting.
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
  • Familiarity with safety rules and regulations relating to equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic control systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with solar systems and their maintenance.
  • Customer service skills for liaising with clients.
  • Familiarity with complex electronic control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain light and power circuits, elevators, controls, lighting fixtures, transformers, and standby battery power circuits.
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of electrical systems and components.
  • Install conduits, wires, cables, pull boxes, transformers, switches, and other related equipment.
  • Monitor and record temperatures, oxygen pressure, and humidity readings for environmental control.
  • Construct, repair, and maintain wooden materials and furniture using hand and power tools.
  • Apply coats of paint, varnish, and other finishes to protect surfaces.
  • Inspect, install, repair, and replace plumbing fixtures and systems.
  • Maintain and repair air handling systems and related components.
  • Repair, install, and test dental and telecommunications equipment.
  • Drive vehicles for transportation of passengers and cargo.
  • Assist hospital staff and funeral homes with cadavers.
  • Perform circuit breaker corrective maintenance and inspect electrical components.
  • Prepare quotes and work estimates as requested.
  • Keep an accurate log of all work performed.
