Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position is located with the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) in Sparks, NV. The Electrician II position will perform highly skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment to current electrical codes and acceptable practices. The role involves implementing documented preventive maintenance and schedules, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing breakers and transformers, emergency generators, fire alarm systems, electric motors, and lighting maintenance. Responsibilities also include installing or removing and reinstalling wiring, computer cables, power panels, conduit, circuit breakers, lighting, switches, and receptacles in accordance with code requirements. Electricians will study blueprints and schematics, calculate electrical load, design new circuits based on the load, gain access to components and systems, perform installation, update blueprints, and inspect the electrical system of structures for conformance with specifications and code requirements. Incumbents possess a broad range of knowledge and experience displaying proficiency sufficient to perform responsibilities with competence. To qualify for this position, applicants must have successfully completed an electrician apprenticeship program and have at least one year of journey-level electrician experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special requirements include a willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for stand-by emergency status, as well as a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are also required, with the cost borne by the applicant.
