About The Position

The Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) seeks to employ career-oriented candidates and offers employment opportunities in a wide variety of challenging occupations. ODOC's mission is to promote public safety by holding offenders accountable for their actions and reducing the risk of future criminal behavior. This position is located at the Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla Oregon. You will work in collaboration with other trades and maintenance specialists in the continued operation and special projects at Two Rivers Correctional Facility. The Electrician 2 provides supervision and direction to a team of Adults in Custody to maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, infrastructure, and devices according to relevant codes and best practices. The Two Rivers Correctional Institution is an adult male prison comprised of housing, industrial, recreational, medical, food service, and other areas with a variety of electrical needs. You will be supported by a team of trades and maintenance workers to accomplish your work.

Requirements

  • An Oregon General Journeyman Electrical license.
  • Experience in diagnosing electrical problems.
  • Ability to plan electrical installation and maintenance based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and maintenance and operation manuals.
  • Experience operating and maintaining a variety of hand, power, and pneumatic tools related to electrical work.
  • Ability to evaluate electrical information against standards and verify correctness.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey information.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct a team of Adults in Custody in maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with other trades and maintenance specialists on special projects.
  • Diagnose electrical problems and plan installations and maintenance based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Apply electrical codes, blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and maintenance and operation manuals to electrical system installation and repair.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand, power, and pneumatic tools related to electrical work.
  • Evaluate electrical information against a set of standards and verify its correctness.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical problems.
