This vacancy is for an Electrical Worker, WG-2805-08 located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Public Works Division, Facility Engineering, Base Seattle, Seattle, Washington. As an Electrical Worker, this position performs electrician work in support of the US Coast Guard (USCG), Naval Engineering Support Unit, Industrial Operations Division, which involves the repair, alteration, modification, testing, installation and checking of all types of electrical equipment and evaluating circuitry required to power the equipment of USCG shore and ship units. Typical work assignments include receiving work orders, oral instructions, and wiring diagrams that indicate the nature of the repair or installation to be made, the layout and placement of circuitry, fixtures, and controls, and the types of wiring, parts, and equipment installed.

  • Receiving work orders, oral instructions, and wiring diagrams that indicate the nature of the repair or installation to be made.
  • Locating broken, worn, damaged, or poorly operating wiring, fixtures, controls, and equipment through visual checks or through the use of test equipment.
  • Completing needed repairs to installed systems, and rearranging and hooking up items such as outlets, switches, light fixtures, regulators, and circuit breakers.
  • Locating grounds, shorts, overloads, and making limited repairs.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
  • Selectee subject to successful completion of pre-employment medical exam.
  • Ability to perform the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
