About The Position

Black Box is seeking an experienced Electrical Trainer to deliver high‑quality instruction, hands‑on skills training, and competency assessments for electrical and low‑voltage technicians. This role is responsible for preparing candidates for field readiness, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and supporting the growth of a highly skilled technical workforce. The ideal candidate brings strong electrical expertise, excellent communication and mentoring skills, and the ability to develop engaging training content that aligns with industry requirements and Black Box operational standards.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in electrical installation, equipment operation, and low‑voltage troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols, OSHA standards, and code compliance.
  • Ability to operate and demonstrate common electrical tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic devices.
  • Experience leading technical training in both classroom and hands‑on lab settings.
  • Ability to design curriculum, structured lesson plans, and measurable learning objectives.
  • Skilled in managing group learning environments and maintaining training discipline.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and record‑keeping abilities.
  • Problem‑solving, analytical thinking, and the ability to coach and mentor diverse learners.
  • Safety‑first mindset with the ability to model best practices consistently.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as an Electrical Instructor, Technical Trainer, Journeyman Electrician, or similar role.
  • Certifications such as OSHA‑10 or OSHA‑30, low‑voltage or electrical certifications, or technical training credentials.
  • Experience training field technicians in data centers, industrial facilities, construction sites, or technical trades.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews and assessments for infrastructure technicians and electrical candidates.
  • Deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on instruction in electrical systems, tools, and low‑voltage troubleshooting.
  • Teach electrical safety standards, including OSHA requirements and applicable local/national electrical codes.
  • Travel to client sites to deliver onsite training, demonstrations, and competency evaluations.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain course materials, manuals, lab exercises, and lesson plans.
  • Ensure training content aligns with evolving industry standards, technologies, and best practices.
  • Design practical assessments, written tests, and performance evaluations to measure trainee proficiency.
  • Monitor, maintain, and set up training equipment, tools, and lab environments to ensure safety and readiness.
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, evaluation forms, and certification documentation.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements in all training spaces.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and technical support to trainees throughout their learning path.
  • Support workforce readiness by identifying skill gaps and tailoring instruction to individual needs.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and productive learning environment focused on growth and craftsmanship.
