About The Position

The Electrical Trainer plays a critical role in developing, delivering, and continuously improving electrical training programs that support safe, reliable operations. This position combines deep technical electrical expertise with instructional delivery, content development, and training program administration. . The Electrical Trainer is responsible for building workforce capability through structured training, competency assessments, performance support tools, and data-driven insights. This role partners closely with operations, safety, and knowledge management teams to ensure electrical personnel are trained to standard, risks are mitigated, and knowledge is effectively transferred across the organization.

Requirements

  • Successfully passes background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment aptitude and competency assessment(s).
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
  • Employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
  • Daily in-person, predictable attendance.
  • Ability to travel.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical College Training preferred.
  • 18 months of previous medium voltage electrical experience required OR Associates Degree in Electrical Technology or related field.
  • Familiarity with NEC, OSHA, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Medium Voltage systems and switchgear applications.
  • Protection relays and associated testing equipment.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic and testing equipment (Megger, multimeter, amp probe, high-pot, test units).
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • NFPA 70E training.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and industrial control systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to pass ET/MV 3 Competency Placement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous oilfield service experience.
  • MV mining or MV drive experience.
  • Journeyman electrician / Master Electrician a plus.
  • Protection Relay Experience or certifications a plus.
  • Protection Relay Experience/ Certifications a plus.
  • Experience developing training content using Articulate (Storyline/Rise) or similar eLearning authoring tools.
  • Experience creating visual learning assets using: Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Illustrator. Adobe Lightroom.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training reporting dashboards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and performing repairs on malfunctioning electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshooting medium voltage (MV) motors, VFDs, switchgear, transformers, and associated processing equipment.
  • Performing routine maintenance and testing of MV switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, protection relays, and MV cables.
  • Ensuring proper layout, testing, and verification of grounding grids for company-owned and third-party equipment.
  • Ensuring safe and compliant power distribution, including cable routing, terminations, inspections, and authorization before energizing MV systems.
  • Performing work in compliance with OEM requirements, OSHA, MSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and internal procedures.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting branch feeder circuit protection relays.
  • Maintaining the condition and readiness of electrical devices, equipment, and cabling.
  • Deliver instructor-led, hands-on, digital learning assets and field-based electrical training for new hires and existing employees.
  • Administer electrical training programs at the local and regional levels.
  • Provide ad hoc and remedial training as operational needs arise.
  • Support mentoring and on-the-job training activities in partnership with operations leaders and SMEs.
  • Manage training equipment and technology (tablets, laptops, testing devices, training aids).
  • Develop, update, and maintain electrical training content, including:
  • Digital learning assets (CBTs) / eLearning modules.
  • Instructor-led training materials.
  • Job aids, quick-reference guides, checklists, and field resources.
  • Assessments, knowledge checks, and practical evaluations.
  • Ensure training materials align with operational standards, OEM documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Knowledge Management and Technical Writing teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and version control of training materials.
  • Evaluate employee competencies and identify skill gaps.
  • Track, analyze, and report training metrics related to electrical training, including:
  • Course completions.
  • Competency assessments.
  • Qualification progressions.
  • Compliance and recertification status.
  • Use the LMS and KM system data to support the continuous improvement of training programs.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
