About the position

The position involves performing work in all areas of the plant to install and maintain electrical machinery, instrumentation, and controls. The role requires a high level of skill in electrical maintenance tasks, including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical machinery throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly skilled electrical maintenance tasks including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical machinery, instrumentation, and controls throughout the plant.
  • Install electrical equipment, motors, starters, conduit, wire, etc.
  • Repair electrical tools and equipment, including power tools and test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot AC (alternating current), DC (direct current), and variable frequency drives, instruments, and control systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on DC motors and other electro-mechanical components.
  • Recalibrate instruments, sensors, control valves, etc.
  • Install and program PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and use it in troubleshooting.
  • Document electrical systems (both hardware and software).
  • Maintain files on motor equipment and preventative maintenance including drawings and schematics.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot high and medium voltage equipment including MCC's, transformers, switchgear, and substations.
  • Manufacture electrical control systems including panel layout, wiring, installation, etc.
  • Program and maintain HMI's.
  • Assist with mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Maintain acceptable levels of housekeeping in electric shop areas.
  • Read, interpret, and apply complex written instructions in the form of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Electrical Supervisor.
  • Follow CMMS procedures to report follow-up work and work found on PM's.
  • Practice safe working habits and promote safety to others.
  • Complete work assignments independently or with assistance from other mechanics.
  • Comply with and understand NFPA 70E.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical manufacturing experience or a combination of education and experience.
