About The Position

The Electrician/Hydro Specialist position at the Lucky Peak Power Plant Project involves a dual role that combines responsibilities of an electrician with hydroelectric plant operations. The role focuses on upgrading legacy equipment and implementing digital solutions while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical generation equipment, as well as operating and controlling various systems within the hydro power plant.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Valid State of Idaho Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
  • Effective communication skills for technical information, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical principles for power generation and distribution.
  • Understanding of safety protocols for energized lines and equipment.
  • Familiarity with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Adobe).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Arc Flash ratings and PPE.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical theory, wiring, and installation practices.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong working knowledge with various electrical tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated systems.
  • Ability to work independently and comfortably in a collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and wiring according to local, state, and national codes.
  • Regularly inspect high-voltage equipment, documenting and addressing any issues.
  • Operate high-voltage switching equipment in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical malfunctions, implementing effective solutions.
  • Assist with replacing analog instrumentation with digital instrumentation to be connected to plant SCADA system.
  • Maintain accurate records of performed work, including service reports and equipment logs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols while working in confined spaces and high-voltage areas.
  • Support design, installation, and testing of new equipment; update prints and manuals as necessary.
  • Respond to on-call emergencies to resolve electrical issues promptly.
  • Operate and control water releases, generation, station service, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Inspect and monitor power plant, transformers, switch gear, and water release systems.
  • Perform high-voltage switching, issue tags, and implement Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, including maintenance logs, water release data, and daily operational logs.
  • Conduct security patrols, respond to alarms, and initiate emergency notifications when needed.
  • Respond to on-call needs 24/7 to maintain and protect equipment.
  • Follow safety policies, participate in the Employee Safety Program, and assist with safety training programs.
