About The Position

This is a project-based employee role supporting the initial development phase of our autonomous vehicle platforms. Development phases of this nature typically span up to project completion (typically 2–4 years), though scope and duration are driven by business needs. JOB SUMMARY The Electrical Technician III supports the integration, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems used in ASI's autonomous vehicle platforms. This role bridges electrical assembly and engineering by supporting complex harness integration, diagnosing electrical issues, and assisting with validation of vehicle electrical systems. As a Level III technician, this position works extensively with wiring harness systems and electrical components installed on prototype and production vehicle platforms. The role collaborates closely with electrical engineers and assemblers to ensure electrical systems are properly integrated, tested, and operating reliably in both laboratory and field environments.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience working with electrical systems, wiring harnesses, or electrical integration in vehicles, robotics platforms, or industrial equipment
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong experience installing, modifying, and troubleshooting wiring harness systems
  • Proficiency using electrical diagnostic tools including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and CAN diagnostic tools
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness documentation
  • Experience supporting prototype builds or engineering integration activities
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and technicians in a development environment
  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with robotics systems, autonomous vehicles, or heavy equipment platforms
  • Familiarity with CAN-based vehicle communication networks
  • Experience supporting vehicle prototype builds and field testing activities
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated electromechanical systems

Responsibilities

  • Install, route, and integrate electrical wiring harnesses and electrical components on autonomous vehicle platforms
  • Modify, repair, and troubleshoot vehicle wiring harnesses and electrical systems during prototype builds and testing
  • Diagnose electrical issues including harness faults, grounding issues, signal interference, and communication errors
  • Perform electrical diagnostics using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, CAN analyzers, and other diagnostic equipment
  • Support system bring-up and electrical validation activities during prototype builds and vehicle integration
  • Work closely with electrical engineers to debug system-level electrical issues and verify system functionality
  • Assist with harness routing optimization and electrical system improvements discovered during testing or field use
  • Perform continuity testing, signal verification, and electrical system validation
  • Document electrical system changes, troubleshooting results, and integration procedures
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop environments and vehicle testing setups involving electrical systems
  • Mentor junior technicians and electrical assemblers on wiring harness installation and troubleshooting techniques
  • Maintain safe work practices when working with vehicle electrical systems and electronic hardware

Benefits

  • 401k with employer match
