The Electrical Technician Helper supports Storm Smart’s electrical team in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring and components used in motorized and automated hurricane protection systems. This entry-level, hands-on role is ideal for someone eager to build a career in the electrical field while working alongside experienced technicians on residential and commercial projects. The Electrical Technician Helper plays a critical role in ensuring safe, code-compliant installations, organized job sites, and a positive customer experience. In this role, the Electrical Technician Helper assists with preparing materials and tools, supports troubleshooting of electrical issues, maintains a clean and professional work environment, and follows detailed instructions to help complete installations efficiently and accurately. The position requires a strong focus on safety, teamwork, attention to detail, and customer service while contributing to Storm Smart’s mission of delivering high-quality storm protection solutions.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and tools (formal training or hands-on experience preferred)
  • Strong commitment to safety, including the ability to follow OSHA guidelines and company safety protocols
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Willingness and ability to learn electrical installation techniques, codes, and best practices
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills; able to work well with technicians, supervisors, and customers
  • Professional and customer-focused attitude on job sites
  • Ability to manage time effectively and stay task-focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to crawl, kneel, bend, and work in tight and confined spaces, including attics, crawl spaces, and enclosed areas.
  • Ability to work in varying environments, including heat, dust, insulation, and construction sites.
  • Must be physically capable of safely performing job duties that require climbing ladders, lifting materials, and working overhead.
  • Attention to detail to ensure quality, safety, and code compliance
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • No major violations or preventable infractions within the past five (5) years.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles in a safe and professional manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school, trade school, or vocational training in electrical systems preferred
  • 0–2 years of electrical, construction, or related hands-on experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of electrical safety standards and local building codes a plus
  • OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain within a designated time frame) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist electrical technicians in the installation of electrical wiring and components for storm protection systems.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and local building codes.
  • Carry and organize materials, tools, and equipment needed for each job.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for electrical issues related to motorized and automated hurricane protection systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and tools.
  • Follow instructions to install or repair electrical systems in residential or commercial properties.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including answering basic questions from customers on the installation process.
