About The Position

The Electrical Tech I will be responsible for the automation system including the interface between the hardware and the software development. Areas of responsibility include designing automation systems to meet the needs of the company and cause the equipment to work in the anticipated way. The Electrical Tech I must demonstrate knowledge and expertise in sensor technologies and characteristics, material compatibility, Control Element devices and signals. The Engineer is responsible for insuring that the company achieves its annual and long range targets by mitigating risks, assuring efficiency and reliability, and researching cost savings solutions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required, or commit to obtain a GED with Carlstar sponsored GED program within 12 months of hire date
  • Certification as a Forklift Operator
  • Three to five years of Industrial experience
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while meeting production and quality goals
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid forklift or equipment license as needed or required
  • Must be able to meet the Ergonomic as well as the Physical Base Score for this position.
  • Must pass company tests: Agility and Drug.
  • Exerting 200 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 75 lbs. frequently and/or in excess of 30 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Stand 90 % and Walk 10 % of a normal day.
  • Lift/Carry 25 lbs. to 100 lbs. Any lifting over 70 lbs. must be completed with assistance, i.e. mechanical or individual.
  • Push/pull: 50 lb constantly, up to 250lb occasionally
  • Pinch minimum 12 lbs.
  • Grasp minimum 125 lbs.
  • Full range of motion required: Cervical, Shoulders, Elbow, Wrist, Fingers, Hands, Truck Twist, and Feet.

  • Minimum of 1 year in a manufacturing/distribution operation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Designs Controls and Automation Systems
  • Measures and calculates equipment operation issues such as pressure drops, differential pressure, linearization
  • Manipulate variables by selecting, specifying and designing the installation of control element devices
  • Use Control Signals and Signal Transmissions to plan consistent communication information between each aspect of the system
  • Maintain system to the top performance level by regularly troubleshooting, testing and improving controls design and programming
  • Researches and provides recommendation for new designs, processes or changes
  • Establishes standards and guidelines in order to fulfill criteria
  • Create spec sheets based on physical environment, regulations and requirements for system performance
  • Detail projects; convert design into purchase requisitions and installation details to provide detailed information for project development and successful deployment
  • Responsible for installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software in support of Capital Projects
