The Electrical Systems Technician will assist in conducting tests including but not limited to isolation and restoration of equipment to facilitate testing. This includes the removal and reinstallation of electrical bus connections, control power leads, and switchgear load/motor leads. The technician will also be responsible for calibration and functional testing of BES and non-BES relays, inspection and testing of relay/meters, and various electrical testing of transformers and generator outputs. The role requires working in adverse weather conditions and high voltage environments, with responsibilities that include climbing, lifting moderately heavy equipment, and being available for call outs and long hours.

  • Conduct tests for isolation and restoration of equipment.
  • Remove and reinstall electrical bus connections.
  • Remove and reinstall control power leads.
  • Remove and reinstall switchgear load/motor leads.
  • Calibrate and functionally test BES and non-BES relays.
  • Inspect and test relay/meters and instrument transformers.
  • Test and inspect oil-filled transformers.
  • Conduct electrical testing of switchgear components.
  • Perform electrical testing of large motors.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Must pass EEI TECH pre-employment test.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Completion of all EST II required training and tasks for EST II position.
  • Qualified as a Journeyman System Protection and Control Technician or equivalent for EST II.
