About The Position

Using blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material and other written instructions or procedures, this position assembles, constructs, inspects and repairs electrical systems within components of various firetrucks according to required specifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of 12-volt electrical systems.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand electrical schematics and prints
• Ability to use analytical thinking and reasoning to problem-solve.
• Ability to effectively organize assigned work so that job tasks are performed efficiently, accurately, according to schedule
• Basic computer navigation and utilization skills and knowledge.
• High degree of attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Prefer 2-5 years’ experience in heavy truck electrical systems, including electrical wiring and installation.

Responsibilities

• Using a variety of tools, assemble electrical systems for a fire truck, which can include: 1. Installing and routing of harnesses and fuse panels 2. Mounting and wiring electrical modules such as light bars, sirens, lights, ECUs 3. Termination of wires utilizing butt-splices and connectors
• Test, or assist in testing, the operation of completed electrical systems.
• Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
• Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are discovered.
• Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.
• Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace and always perform work safely.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
