Casco Products Corporation, in Novi, has an opening for an Electrical Systems Engineer to work with OEM customers to guide, negotiate, and capture customer requirements for CAN/LIN based inverters and outlets; and analyze those requirements with Electrical, Hardware, Software and Mechanical Engineering team members.

  • Work with OEM customers to guide, negotiate, and capture customer requirements for CAN/LIN based inverters and outlets; and analyze those requirements with Electrical, Hardware, Software and Mechanical Engineering team members.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and manufacturing groups to develop system requirements in R4J/Jira to allocate system requirements to electrical, functional, mechanical and validation disciplines, and to develop System architecture.
  • Utilize core automotive tools (DFMEA, PPAP, etc.) to ensure that the designed product meets customer requirements.
  • Support the development of system validation (HIL) plans and develop environmental test plans (DVP&R) and EMC test plans according to OEM specifications.
  • Perform system-level engineering tests in the lab using common lab tools including DMMS, Oscilloscopes and CAN/LIN communication equipment.
  • Develop Product-Level End-of-Line Production Test Specifications.
  • Coordinate with Program Management to ensure that all open technical issues are captured, assigned, and tracked to completion and timely release of the necessary engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in warranty return analysis and corrective actions (8D, 5Why, etc.).
  • Analyze OEM change requests, coordinate engineering team responses, and releases of affected drawings and documents.
  • Telecommuting permitted.
  • Position requires up to 10% domestic travel to customers and suppliers within the Metropolitan Detroit area and international travel to internal company or customer locations depending on business need.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 60 months' progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in embedded systems design and development engineering in the automotive industry, including; 36 months experience in each of the following: automotive electronics design experience involving serial communication protocols such as CAN or LIN; performing bench testing using common lab tools including DMMs, Oscilloscopes and CAN/LIN communication equipment; and using core automotive tools (DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D, etc.) and, also including; 24 months experience in each of the following: working with automotive OEM customers to guide, negotiate and capture customer requirements; developing as well as managing systems requirements throughout the development cycle; leading a design team on at least one project; planning technical projects; and management of engineering deliverables.
  • TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Telecommuting permitted. Position requires up to 10% domestic travel to customers and suppliers within the Metropolitan Detroit area and international travel to internal company or customer locations depending on business need.
