About The Position

Applied Engineering is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on AC electrical system product design for power distribution equipment, including switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks, and generators. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, industry certifications, and strong collaboration skills to deliver innovative solutions that meet rigorous safety and compliance standards. As an Electrical Systems Design Engineer, you will design and validate AC electrical systems, creating schematics, layouts, and technical documentation to support manufacturing, testing, certification, and customer requirements. You will specify safe and effective prototype testing practices, select and validate electrical components based on NEC, UL, and other industry standards, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure designs meet performance, compliance, and operational goals, while working collaboratively with suppliers and other Applied partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (required)
  • 4+ years of professional experience in electrical design engineering
  • Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, EPlan, or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and compliance requirements
  • Experience designing to electrical specifications for power distribution equipment (switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks, generators)
  • Ability to create detailed technical documentation and specify safe testing practices

Nice To Haves

  • NFPA 70E Certification and experience with UL891, UL1558, UL508, UL1008, UL9540, and related standards strongly preferred
