About The Position

At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them. | WHAT YOU GET TO DO Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair for PLCs, robots, weld controls, conveyors, and vision systems in Body-in-White (BIW) production. Diagnose and resolve automation-related downtime quickly to minimize production impact. Modify and optimize PLC logic, HMI screens, robot programs, and vision systems to improve usability for operators and maintenance staff. Support equipment upgrades, system updates, and running changes with minimal production disruption. Assist Controls Engineers in developing controls designs, hardware, and vision/weld/PLC/HMI/conveyance technology integration. Identify and implement advanced machine control, robotic, sensor, and vision technologies. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for automation-related failures, throughput losses, and quality concerns; implement corrective actions. Partners with maintenance and engineering teams to maintain documentation, training, and preventive maintenance programs. Apply and enforce national electrical safety standards for all BIW equipment; ensure compliance with LOTO, interlocks, safety PLCs, and DCS systems. Perform risk assessments, ensuring safe design and operation of control logic. Support equipment installations, debugging, and commissioning activities.
