About The Position

Boston Metal seeks a motivated, collaborative, insightful, creative and meticulous Electrical Safety Specialist to support our mission of tapping into a sustainable future… safely . In this role, you will work as part of a team and will interface with various Boston Metal stakeholders from across the organization to implement Boston Metal’s EHS program within a fast-paced, start-up environment. Develop, train, coach or mentor – in risk assessment, safe work practices, job hazard analysis, standard operating procedures, and process hazard analysis. Support the creation and implementation of high hazard EHS programs, including electrical safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO), monitor results and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Conduct or participate in equipment inspections, audits and incident investigations, identifying system causes, crafting corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) and tracking CAPAs to closure. Evaluate engineering and/or architectural designs for safety concerns, specifically electrical safety. Assist with contractor safety management programs. Ensure proper calibration and operation of safety equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE) selection and maintenance. Actively participate in Boston Metal’s EHS Committee, catalyzing our drive for safety culture.

Requirements

  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in heavy manufacturing, robotics, energy storage or power industries.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA, NFPA 70E and NEC/IBC regulations as they pertain to electrical safety, with an emphasis on high energy DC power systems.
  • Practical experience applying these regulations and developing or implementing lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs is a plus.
  • Minimum 4-year bachelor’s degree in architecture/engineering (A/E) or scientific disciplines from an ABET-accredited institution. A minimum 15 years A/E, heavy industry experience may be substituted.
  • Speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Primary metals/metallurgical industry experience is a plus.
  • Professional certifications, specifically Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP), Professional Engineer (PE), or Master Electrician designation are highly desirable.
  • Fluency in Brazilian Portuguese is a plus.
  • Experience with database systems and modeling software is a plus.
