This position reports to the Electrical Reliability Engineering Manager, Valliant Mill and is responsible for complex engineering projects and increased performance and reliability of EPD equipment through failure analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Power Distribution experience required.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with AutoCAD and all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ETAP power system modeling software is preferred.
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Proven commitment to safety and safety processes.
  • Strong technical foundation in electrical engineering.
  • High level of initiative and motivation.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written).
  • Able to work independently and excel with minimum supervision.
  • Desire and ability to work as a team player.
  • Desire to aggressively learn and continue to develop knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results.
  • Work with operations and maintenance teams to implement strategic maintenance initiatives that support achievement of reliability objectives, key performance metrics, and maintenance cost objectives and capital projects execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement through positive influence, IP best practices, FMEA, and RCFA.
  • Facilitate RCFA by leading a group to quickly and thoroughly identify and solve latent causes.
  • Ensure projects are compliant with NFPA 70E safety requirements.
  • Manage all aspects of scheduled EPD PM activities including working closely with the Annual Outage Coordinator on detailed schedules for required area power outages.
  • Serve as the IPCC for EPD maintenance contractor.
  • Manage all aspects of asset management for Electrical Power Distribution (EPD) equipment.
  • Actively participate in monthly IP EPD best practice calls.
  • Maintain current gap analysis against GMS requirements.
  • Provide EPD outage support for other IP mills when practical.
  • Provide electrical and instrumentation (E&I) design support to the maintenance department and capital engineering department.
  • Support factory acceptance testing of EPD equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance and advice as necessary to aid in troubleshooting complex issues in manufacturing processes.
  • Manage mill infrared and ultrasonic inspections and corrective action planning of power distribution equipment.
  • Maintain (5) Capital plan for EPD equipment.
  • Develop plan for obsolete EPD equipment.
  • Manage electrical transformer oil analysis testing program.
  • Monitor effectiveness of E&I predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Build effective systems and materials such as operating procedures (SOP), troubleshooting documents (TCC), and other training materials.
  • Rotate with other leaders to provide electrical Weekend Duty support.
