Raytheon Sensor Test Solutions (STS) is actively seeking an onsite Electrical Prototyping Fabrication Technician to join the Test Equipment Engineering Directorate in Tucson, Arizona. The Test Equipment Engineering Directorate (TEE) includes all engineering disciplines responsible for systems design & test on every Raytheon product. Our engineers are responsible for each element of the development lifecycle for test including test requirements, test system design, flight simulations, hardware-in-the-loop, computer-in-the-loop, advanced engineering prototyping technology, flight operations for manned and unmanned vehicles, environmental testing, environmental characterization and engineering laboratory management. We are hands-on, designing with the latest technology and tools, and integrate state of the art test solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world. Electrical Prototyping Fabrication Technicians work in an engineering environment to co-develop engineering hardware in accordance with customer and internal requirements, as well as industry standards. Candidates will collaborate with multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects to bring design concepts to fruition, providing rapid engineering, fabrication and prototyping solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle. This position is 100% ONSITE in Tucson, Arizona.

Requirements

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience
  • Experience in an engineering environment, testing and fabricating electrical assemblies in four or more of the following areas: cables or wire harnesses breakout boxes chassis, circuit card modifications racked electronic equipment troubleshooting of systems in an integration environment
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting schematics and drawings to identify producibility issues
  • Military electronics or avionics training
  • Familiarity with 3D drawings and CAD tools
  • J-STD-001 Solder certification
  • IPC 610 & 620 Acceptability certifications and inspection experience

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, maintain, modify, and repair complex prototype electrical assemblies
  • Rely on extensive experience to interpret drawings, schematics, 3D models, written notes, and specifications
  • Lead other technicians in the layout and fitment of electrical, electro-optical, electro-mechanical, and mechanical assemblies
  • Adapt methods and procedures to test, analyze, and troubleshoot new hardware
  • Apply advanced skills to test, inspect, and prove-in complex prototype electrical assemblies
  • Lead in electrical/mechanical engineering drawing peer reviews to validate engineering design specifications in development of producible prototypes
  • Assess complex designs to ensure producibility, maintainability, safety, and reliability
  • Communicate build concerns to customers and collaborate on design improvements
  • Work in closed/proprietary/classified areas without access to personal communication devices such as phones/tablets, etc
