About The Position

GFT is seeking a Electrical Project Designer to join our Buildings and Places Business Group in Fife, WA! Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Revit MEP, AutoCad, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Authorization to work in the United States (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project proposals and presentations.
  • Experience with management of small work groups and project tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development of project design concepts and criteria.
  • Understands client requirements as they relate to the electrical scope of work; aligns and develops detailed design documents including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and calculations.
  • Performs or directs junior staff to perform electrical engineering calculations (e.g. electrical load calculations, illumination level calculations).
  • Models or directs junior staff to model systems in Revit or AutoCAD.
  • Coordinates with the client, the project team, and other disciplines to design full electrical systems.
  • Evaluates vendor submissions to assure compliance with contract documents.
  • Consults with construction personnel concerning field conditions, sequencing, scheduling of activities, and constructability of designs.
  • Reviews and responds to contractor submittals and requests for information.
  • Performs site observations and collects field data.
  • Provides assistance to or leads proposal teams.
  • Able to work in multi-disciplinary teams and lead tasks and simple project teams.
  • As an originator or peer reviewer of documents, ensures that production of drawings and specifications meets the scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements and satisfies federal, state, and local requirements and Gannett Fleming’s Quality Management System.
  • Makes recommendations on project staffing.
  • Analyzes complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
  • Provides input for proposals and pursuit of new projects.
